Donations and Bequests

The Leo Baeck Centre very much welcomes donations and bequests that help with the development and running of the Centre. In the past these generous gifts have enabled us to do things such as acquire a new Torah scroll, build a new Sukkah, install a video projector, put in a children’s playground, provide black-out blinds for our Kiddush Hall, replant our front garden and even hire a youth worker for several years.

If you would like to discuss donating or making a bequest, please contact the office, who will put you in touch with an appropriate Board member.

Donations can be by cheque made out to the Leo Baeck Centre or deposited by electronic funds transfer into our account (BSB: 013 400; Account No.: 3133 24807). Please include your name in any ‘description’ and let us know that you have made a donation. (We will, of course, respect any request for a donation to be ‘anonymous’, but we would still like to thank you personally.)

Larger donations ($1000 and over) can be directed to our tax-deductible educational fund. Please contact our Treasurer through the office for details.

The Leo Baeck Centre also raises funds for other selected organisations through our Annual High Holy Day Appeal. Each year we chose one or two different organisations in Australia or in Israel.

We also maintain a Tzedaka fund, which we often utilise to assist those affected by natural disasters in various locations throughout the world. Our Sh’ma Religious School participants are encouraged to contribute small amounts to this or other funds.

Finally, we have a longstanding relationship with the Asylum Seekers Resource Centre, to which our members donate nutritious foods and necessary personal and household products each week and over the High Holy Day period.
