Traditional Jewish rituals accompanying important life cycle events bring joy and comfort to the individuals involved. They also bring the community together in celebration and support. These life cycle rituals are among the most important functions that a synagogue can perform. In this section, we present the major life cycle services and rituals that the Leo Baeck Centre offers to its members.
Additionally, the Leo Baeck Centre and its members also mark other milestones in their lives, such as a special birthday or wedding anniversary, within the community. Some members enjoy being honoured in a Shabbat morning service or may wish to sponsor a Kiddush for the whole community. Others may mark a significant event by making a donation to the Centre, either for general use or as a contribution towards a targeted development or project for the community .
In this section you will read about ritual events across the lifespan and how we at LBC celebrate and honour these.
LBC’s Care group can support members as they approach a lifecycle event. The Care group consists of a number of volunteer LBC members who are willing to provide friendly visiting, meals, bereavement and ‘get well’ support, as well as phone calls to those wishing for contact. If you would like to be supported by the Care group, please contact the Office.
