Care Committee

The Care committee consists of a number of volunteer LBC members who provide friendly visiting, meals, send bereavement and ‘get well’ cards and keep in touch with our community’s frail, socially isolated, bereaved and seriously ill members and their families.

A health professional who is also a volunteer and LBC member reviews each case and either assigns an appropriate volunteer or recommends other options. Requests for assistance should go through the LBC office, however referrals are also received from the Rabbi and some self-referrals. If the assistance required is outside of the Committee’s skills other alternatives are sought.

When required, our volunteers also provide assistance at minyanim held at LBC. This involves serving tea and coffee and cleaning up afterwards. As these are always at short notice we sometimes struggle to provide assistance, so if you are willing to help with this mitzvah please let the LBC office know your contact details.

The Care group currently meets bi-monthly with the Rabbi to review the Care process, its effectiveness, issues affecting our community and members to be contacted to see if they or their families need assistance.

Feedback from the community on the personal contact, services provided and/or the cards received have indicated that the services of the Care program are very much appreciated.
