Upcoming Activities

  • B’yachad: LBC's singing group (in-person) - held off-site, contact Kathy for details. Last for the year.

    December 7, 2023 at 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm
Held off-site in private home - Contact Kathy for more information - kathy@deutsch.net.au.

Meets 1stand 3rd Thursdays from 8pm – 9.30 pm. Contact is Kathy Deutsch kathy@deutsch.net.au. Gold coin donation.

If singing with others is your idea of fun, you might like to come along to B’yachad (Hebrew for ‘together’).  We meet fortnightly on a Thursday evening and learn songs in Hebrew, Yiddish, Ladino and Russian.  You don’t need language or singing skills to join in, just a love of Jewish music.  We are led by a piano accordionist and mostly just sing for our own enjoyment.  We do however occasionally sing at Jewish old age homes (Russian songs got added into our repertoire as a result of requests from residents), at Boroondara singing events and at the odd fund-raiser.  Want to know more?  Email Kathy at kathy@deutsch.net.au

We follow COVID rules as recommended for singers by DHHS.

  • Chavurah Chanukah Lunch with Rabbi Kipen: “Care for the community - a pastoral approach to the demands of life"

    December 9, 2023 at 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

For more than 30 years Rabbi Aviva Kipen has beenbringing care for families and individuals to the PJV community and beyond.

Losses form the cycle of our lives. Losses bring manydemands with them:

we leave our childhood, our adolescence, our youth andour middles years.

Not every person is given the health to transition fromstage to stage,

not every relationship endures in a healthy and enrichingconnection …..

This year Rabbi Aviva has been our pastoral rabbi, quietly supporting families in distress,

caring for the bereaved, receiving the “oys and joys”that life sends.

Rabbi Aviva will be our speaker during Chanukah at theChavurah lunch on Shabbat 9th December.

She will put the care for our community into themiraculous framework of the endurance of each generation,

itself as miraculous as the endurance of the Jewishpeople as a whole.

Join us after the service, bring a plate to share.
