Youth

We welcome young people of all ages and attempt to make provision for families’ various needs.

We have tailored our religious education program in consultation with parents so it occurs during the school week and leaves weekends free for the many other activities that modern families participate in.

Our Friday Night Kids Shabbat from 5.00-5.30pm once a month introduces younger children to services in a manageable format at a family-friendly time.

We run children-friendly Chanukah, Purim, Shavuot and Sukkot activities, classes and parties. Some of these are conducted at LBC, while others are run as ‘outreach’ activities in a community setting. During both Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur services we have special sessions for children and teenagers

We have innovative outdoor play equipment (‘Noah’s Ark’) for primary school aged children, as well as an area in the sanctuary space where young children can play quietly during services. There are also a selection of educational materials in our classrooms as well as a cupboard full of toys in our Kiddush hall that can be used to engage the attention of restless young visitors.

There is a baby change table in a restroom off the Kiddush hall.
